See you at the Pole

High School Students, Teachers, and Community Gather Around Flag Pole for Fellowship and Prayer

September 26, 2018.  67 students from grades 7-12 began gathering around the flagpole this morning for the annual See You at the Pole National Day of Prayer.  Before 7:30 a.m. this morning, students set up tables with juice and snacks, along with a portable microphone and keyboard.

See You at the Pole is a student-led, student-initiated, and student-oriented moment of prayer and fellowship to lift our community of peers, teachers, and neighbors up in prayer.  Local churches and community members are encouraged to participate, but it is entirely student-led.

This year, student council president, Kenlee Killian, welcome everyone and began with praise and worship music.  Chase Fountain, the president of Pirate Ministries, was also a key vocalist. Before the end of the event, Kenlee explained the theme of this year’s movement as being “Broken” from Ephesians 3:14.  She read from her Bible, and then gave her testimony about how she interpreted that gospel.

Before the students dispersed to classes, they all circled around the flagpole to lift each other up in prayer for the upcoming school year.  Pirate Ministries sponsor, Carla Vredenburg stated, "It  was inspiring to see all the students come out for See You at the Pole this morning.  I can't say enough about their dedication and willingness to this club."
