Calico Rock Junior Quiz Bowl Team Advances to State Tournament

The Calico Rock Junior Quiz Bowl team earned second place at the North Central / Northeast Regional Tournament held on February 1 at Izard County Consolidated (ICC) High School, and will advance to the 1A state tournament later this month.

After dropping a closely contested first match of the day, the Pirates reeled off five consecutive wins, finishing second among the six teams who competed.  Other high schools who participated in the regional included:  Concord, ICC, Mammoth Spring, Norfork, Ridgefield Christian Academy (Jonesboro), and Viola.

Calico Rock will travel to UACCM (Morrilton) on Saturday, February 23 to compete in the 1A State Tournament.

Zane Fountain was one of five players at the regional named to the All-Tournament Team, and he will be eligible to compete at the state All-Star competition to be held on Saturday, March 2.
