The mission of the Calico Rock High School counseling department is to assist students in the process of growing in personal, social, educational, and career development and to be a liaison between the students, faculty, administration, and community.
Role of the High School Counselor:
The role of the High School Counselor is:
To assist students:
- Developmentally, to prevent problems from occurring
- In understanding their abilities and limitations
- In learning decision making and interpersonal skills
- In gaining optimum benefits from their school experience
- In developing skills in getting along with others in the classroom
To assist parents:
- In learning about their child's growth and development
- In appreciating their child's abilities, limitations, and progress in school
- To encourage a home atmosphere for emotional security and personal growth
To assist school staff:
- To understand and meet individual needs
- In understanding children and their behavior
- In initiating classroom guidance activities for greater understanding of self and others
- In providing special help for students when it is needed
