This past week Calico Rock High School welding students had the opportunity to compete at the Missouri Welding Institute. They went up against 193 students from six states for the chance to win a scholarships and tuition at MWI. Only 53 students competing this year completed the required tasks and made it to judging. Calico Rock had three students make the cut. Those students were Zachary Crawford, Weston DeLoach, and Clayton Thompson. Zachary Crawford was also the only student from Arkansas to place in the top 10 and finished 8th overall. This is only the third year that Calico has competed in this event. Calico Rock is proud to offer several vocational opportunities, including certifications from the American Welding Society in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding. We are excited for what the future holds for these young men! The Calico Rock FFA would like to thank you all for your support. Fundraising through our alumni group helped purchase additional welders and equipment. Once again thank you and congratulations to are welders!
