Miss Teen Izard County and Calico Rock Pirate competed in the Arkansas State Fair Pageant yesterday. Keeley was one of the top scores of the Interview competition. She represented Izard County and Calico Rock High School well. Congratulations to Keeley Pool!
The Calico Rock School District will hold the annual public meeting at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, October 15 at the Elementary Cafeteria. The school board meeting will take place after public meeting.

The band/choir fall concert will be Monday, October 14 starting at 7:00 at the elementary auditorium.
We celebrated the High School getting an "A" on the Public School Rating Scores on Wednesday. I kept it a secret, except for just a few that helped me with the assembly. Faculty and students had no idea why they were coming to the gym but when they got the news they were ecstatic! Hard work pays off. We threw out candy and celebrated! So proud of the CRHS Pirate Crew!
On Friday, October 11, 2019, from 5:30-7:30 p.m., we will be having a Chili Supper and Fall Festival to raise money for the Calico Rock School District.
Tickets for the Chili Supper will be $5.00.
Tickets for the Fall Festival games will be sold the night of the festival for $ .25 per ticket or 5 tickets for $1.00. Most games will cost 1 ticket; some games will cost up to 4 tickets.
The Junior Beta Leadership Team went to conference this week. They learned skills about leadership that they can bring back and use at school.
They were able to compete for an invitation to National Competition and WON!!!!! We are so proud!!!

The Calico Rock School District, in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH), will hold a Flu Immunization clinic at school.
The Shots will be given on October 2 starting about 8 am at the elementary campus then they will be at the high school.
Public is welcome to come and receive a flu shot.
Consent forms were sent home with the students and they need to be returned to the school before October 2 for students to get their flu shot.

There will be a band parent meeting on Monday, September 30 at 6:00 pm in the high school band room.
All high school band parents in grades 7-12 should attend.
Season Passes for the basketball season are now available. You may purchase from Coach Whiteaker or Mrs. Nordrum at this time. They will be at the gate at the Black and Orange game on Oct. 18. Adults $40 and Students $30.
All seniors and their parents will meet in the library tonight at 5:30 to plan for the rag ball tournament this weekend. Please make plans to be there.

Pirate Ministries led the "See you at the Pole" rally on Wednesday. Due to inclement weather, it was moved to the gym.
See You at the Pole™, the global day of student prayer, began in 1990 as a grass roots movement with ten students praying at their school. Twenty years later, millions pray on their campuses on the fourth Wednesday in September.
See You at the Pole™ is simply a prayer rally where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God. See You at the Pole™ is a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event.
We're excited to invite everyone out for the CRHS Class of 2020's rag ball tournament that will benefit Project Grad. We raise money to provide the seniors with a fun and safe graduation night and need your help. Please tell all your friends and family to sign up for a day of fun, friendly competition, and memories. The Calico Rock High School FFA Rodeo will be this Friday, September 20-Saturday, September 21 at the arena. Make sure you come out to enjoy all the events.
Games will be played on Thursday nights from September 19-October 10. Games will start at 5:30.
Everyone is welcome to attend and all games will be at the Calico Rock High School Gymnasium.

On Tuesday, members of the robotics team attended a VEX V5 Coding class at North Arkansas College in Harrison, AR. They gained valuable skills and learned about the NEW VEX V% coding programs.
The elementary will be taking school pictures on Wednesday, September 18.

Governor Hutchinson traveled to the campus of Calico Rock High School on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. He spoke to students in grades 4 through 12 as well as members of the public who were in attendance. The Governor spoke to the audience about computer science, coding and technology.

Governor Hutchinson will be on the campus of Calico Rock High School on Wednesday, September 11, 2019. He will be speaking to 4th through 12th grade and the public is welcome. The Governor will be speaking about Computer Science, coding and technology.

According to Arkansaslearns.org, the Calico Rock School district is ranked #2 in Arkansas. The ranking is based on growth in the area of reading readiness. This means that a Springdale School is the only school in Arkansas that had more growth in reading readiness for the last four years than Calico Rock. Currently, 95% of Calico Rock kindergarten and first grade students are at or above reading level by the end of the year.
The Calico Rock School District will start the 2019-2020 school year on Wednesday, August 14.
