Mrs. Killian's Survey of Business students have been working hard to prepare to pass their Microsoft Office Specialist certification tests. Eleven students have completed the requirements to be recognized as a Microsoft Office Specialist for Office Word 2016. In addition, Riley Whiteaker, Sarah Vo, & Jacob Willis have also completed the requirements to be recognized as a MOS Specialist for Excel 2016.

The advanced choir traveled to Jonesboro this evening to for our region's Choral Performance Assessment. This is the first time the choir has attended, and we earned an Excellent score from all three judges for our stage performance! The group also earned a Superior rating in sight-reading. Congratulations ladies (and gentleman) on a job well done!

School will be in session on Monday, February 24th. All AMI packets will be due at the beginning of each class. If your packet is not complete, you will be counted absent for the day of the AMI packet that you did not complete.

The Flu is still widespread. We have made the decision to stay out of school one more day in hopes that will give our students and faculty time to recover. We hope you all start feeling better. We will see you Monday bright and early!

Calico Rock's Senior Beta recently attended the SR Beta Convention and Competition. Seven students competed, with five of them placing and qualifying for the National Senior Beta Convention and Competition this summer. Those qualifying were:

These students will be competing June 15-18, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Calico Rock Schools will be closed Wednesday and Thursday, February 19th and 20th, due to contagious illness. We will use that time to sanitize the school and give time for students to recuperate. Students will need to do AMI packet DAY 1 and DAY 2. Packets must be completed on friday when we return to school or the student will be counted absent and will still be required to make up that work.
AMI packets are available on the school website if a student has lost their packet. Also, if you don't have a way to print the material, answer the questions on your own paper and bring the answers in on friday.
The Calico Rock School District will not have classes on Monday, February 17.
FCCLA will be hosting a dance for grades 7-12 from 9-11 on Friday, February 14.
Friday night's games with Salem are at home and will start at 5:30. There are only 2 games (the 2 senior teams). There is a school dance after the games.
The junior boys advanced in the district tournament last night. They will be playing tonight at 5:45. Wear your black and orange and come to ICC to support the Junior Pirates!

The Calico Rock School District will have Parent/Teacher Conferences on Thursday, February 6. At the elementary appointments start at 1:00 p.m. and end at 6:30. At the high school, parents may come by anytime from 3:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
We hope to see all you there. There are ball games at the high school that night so you can enjoy a night of games as well as checking in on your child's school work.
Ballgames tonight start at 4:00 p.m. Make plans to come out and support the Pirates.
Parent Teacher conferences will be going until 6:30 p.m. tonight.
This past week Calico Rock High School welding students had the opportunity to compete at the Missouri Welding Institute. They went up against 193 students from six states for the chance to win a scholarships and tuition at MWI. Only 53 students competing this year completed the required tasks and made it to judging. Calico Rock had three students make the cut. Those students were Zachary Crawford, Weston DeLoach, and Clayton Thompson. Zachary Crawford was also the only student from Arkansas to place in the top 10 and finished 8th overall. This is only the third year that Calico has competed in this event. Calico Rock is proud to offer several vocational opportunities, including certifications from the American Welding Society in MIG, TIG, and Stick welding. We are excited for what the future holds for these young men! The Calico Rock FFA would like to thank you all for your support. Fundraising through our alumni group helped purchase additional welders and equipment. Once again thank you and congratulations to are welders!
The Calico Rock Robotics Team competed on Saturday, February 1 in the Northark Robotics VRC Challenge. The tournament was held at the Pioneer Pavilion on the South campus of Northark College. Sixteen teams from twelve schools competed in the VEX Robotics Competition hoping to earn a spot in the Arkansas State Championship to be held March 7 at Arkansas Tech University.
The high school will host Senior Night on Tuesday, February 4 to honor those Seniors who will be graduating that have participated in sports. The ceremony will take place at the high school during the ballgame against Western Grove.
