A Sound from the Past, Thanks to the Future
Today, the Calico Rock Museum was honored to welcome two talented students from Calico Rock Schools' EAST Program (Environmental and Spatial Technology) - Elizabeth and Thomas - along with their sponsors.
As part of her EAST project, Elizabeth designed and built a motion-activated sound machine that now plays a time-period nursery rhyme each time someone steps into our historic one-room schoolhouse - a building that once served double duty as both school and church in its day.
This thoughtful addition brings the past to life in a beautiful new way - allowing visitors not only to see history but to hear it as well. It's a shining example of how modern creativity and education can preserve and celebrate the stories of those who came before us.
We're deeply grateful to Elizabeth, Thomas, and the EAST Program at Calico Rock Schools for their innovation, kindness, and genuine interest in our local history. Your contribution ensures that future generations experience the magic of learning in Calico Rock's own living classroom.
Come experience it for yourself - history that sings when you step inside!
